The willow will endure with less tending, it's true, and can survive being handled more. When its charms have faded, she'll find something new to adorn his desk. "Yes, they're for decorative purposes only. Sorry, not everything I bring will be edible." But if he's very good, he'll get on her Advent candy list. And maybe some Easter candy too.
