[Matt stays still under her touch. Bristle on his chin and the skin so close to his lips are hyper sensitive. He can smell the ingredients from the sandwiches, soap, her skin. Karen is warm and the tips of her fingers are soft. The moment lasts a few heartbeats. It's a brief and beautiful forever.]
No, God. No. And I'm telling you, he's horrible.
[He shakes his head.]
Growing with maybe no end in sight. I'm glad you can respect that. It frustrates me. [He leans back in the chair, the plate clean as far as he's concerned.] You did say it was better than sex though. What can be said after that?
Is he? Are you trying to keep me tucked away, and safe from a bad boy? How charming, and cute. Who knows, you might get dessert now too.
[Her smile turned mischievous as she finished a sandwich, and a half. Bacon completely gone too. Standing, she moves to kiss the top of his head as she goes about cleaning off the table, and wrapping up the last of her sandwich.] Do you want this last piece? If not, I am going to put it away.
That'a okay, I will think you perfect no matter what.
[Finishing her milk, both plates, and her glass go into the sink. Then she puts his glass back before she puts away the drinks. Getting a small glass to pour some orange juice, Karen takes a sip before she washes her hands.
Moving to wrap up her garbage, she moves toward the front door to put it outside in a bit.]
So, can I tempt you with anything else? More coffee?
[That was so sweet, she moves closer to press close to him, pressing her nose into his hair so she could kiss him there again. She doesn't move away quickly, she just stands there for a while, just being close to him.] That is so very sweet of you.
[When he states that he is full, Karen pulls back some to wrap her arms around him as she sits in his lap for a few moments.]
Well, that's good. It'll be there if you want it later. Speaking of later, if you decided to stay, I bought some extra toothbrushes. [He was staying here a lot, she wouldn't mind if he kept some stuff here.] You can leave some stuff here, if you want too, or need too.
[She nods about his comment to have more coffee.] You got it. [Smiling, she kisses his forehead, speaking close to his skin.] Sure, I can bring in some of my drawings. [She states as she goes to stand up.]
[He's far away enough from the table to provide a proper seat. Once she's close to him, against him there is a lot more bare skin close to him. Matt knows how smooth and how long her limbs are. His hands grip at her hips in case his lap fails to be a reliable seat.]
Thanks. [Thoughtfulness is one of her strong suits.] I didn't want to presume.
[She starts to get up and his hands grip lightly.]
Hey. No rush. [He'll release her immediately if she is committed to standing.]
[Karen loved his hands, especially when they were all over her. The hand on her hip makes her bite her bottom lip a bit.]
Sure No presumptions, I like having you around. [She said smoothly as she went to kiss his cheek.
When she goes to stand, but his hands are gripping at her like that, however lightly, Karen feels powerless to move,]
Okay. Besides, I was showing you what dessert was, just in case you weren't sure about it. [She leaned her head in close so she her face was close to his neck, and her head was resting on his shoulder.]
But...I know you said you didn't want any...so...[Her smile was wide, and cheeky.]
[Matt lets her go and his hands stay at his thighs as he listens to her move.]
Are you saying lots of people like you too?
[Cheesy, but his delivery is even and sincere.]
Yes, please. More coffee would be nice.
[Fully aware that their last close encounter was virtually wrecked by Matt's nerves, he is not sure of how to navigate his way through the moment. He's not about to give up. Nope.]
[That makes her blink, but she clears her throat, and smiles softly.] Maybe...people seem to like me well enough, but I hadn't realized you were talking about me. There seem to be...
[She nods softly, and moves to put another coffee packet into the machine. Then she put in water, and started it. Moving out of the room then to grab her drawing pad.
Coming back a few moments later, she places the pad down in front of him. The paper had raised bumps on it, and was a thick variety. The drawings had some heavy shadows, with lots of white spaces. Like a play between darkness and lightness she feels herself living in.
Then she turns toward the sink. Grabbing a scouring brush, she starts to work on the dinner pan. She knew a lot of the pieces by heart.]
The first one is of a little girl I saw chasing around a butterfly. She was quite cute, tiny, no more then 4 with baloney curls, and chubby cheeks. I saw her at the gardens, [She was the kind of child Karen hoped to have on her own someday.]
[Enough to rival Foggy on that scale of person to person relations.
Hearing her move to start the machine gives him an idea of how it works. Fascinating and easy, he'll keep it in mind.
The pad in front of him makes Matt pause questioningly. Karen describes the works at a distance. The dishes do need doing yes. Matt carefully lifts his hands to the paper. The texture is immediately noticeable. He keeps his touch light for fear of smearing her work. There's plenty to feel. The picture slowly comes into his head as he lets his fingers pan over the sketching.]
Thank you, Matt. That is sweet of you to say. [She says in a soft but clear voice.]
[Sighing wistfully, she swallows thickly, and audibly as she finishes the pan and moves to work on some of the bowls.]
I hope to have a child like her one day; she was quite adorable. [She had given Karen hope, something she's been seriously missing these days.[ It is the first time I felt hope in months. I had to capture the moment.
[He doesn't just say things. And she deserves to hear nice truths. Matt nods his return. He's still wrapped up in taking in the picture. The more she describes her feelings the more the composition makes sense with light and shadow.]
[She knows that about him. He is one of the most sincere, least bullshit people she knows. And that is even with his secrets. Yes, he lied, often, but it was for protection. That is exactly what she did too.]
Thank you. I wanted to give it to the father, but I couldn't part with it.
[She laughs flatly at that. Shrugging a bit awkwardly, that awkwardness transfers in tone to her voice.] Maybe..doesn't feel like it. It's okay though.
[She feels a shift in the air flow as he stands behind her.] You don't have to, you are my guest after all. Though, if you want to help, you can. [Handing him a towel. She was bent down so that her hair covered her face, she just felt like not being open right now. So, she closed down a little.]
Unless you want to wash? [She said in a soft, clear voice.]
[Living so many lies about street fight heroism and the extent of his abilities inspired him to be as honest as possible in other ways. Like it would lessen the sin of deceit. And they're more alike then they let on, then they show.
Standing this close Matt smells her shampoo.]
Maybe when it hangs in a gallery he can appreciate it all the same.
[That's how it works right? Matt has no concept of how galleries are run. And really he's no judge of art but without eyes he can see a small girl radiating joy.]
How often do I have to hang around before I'm no longer a guest?
[Matt reaches out to rub her back idly as he takes the towel to start the drying.]
[It's less hilarious because Karen understands. To everyone else it's another blind joke.]
It's fine. Really.
[Matt half turns and kisses her forehead. The drying he does also pauses. Karen is warm and the kitchen cooling. All the smells of the paint and food have stopped fighting. The only thing remaining is soap and various fragrances of her so close to him.]
Very true, people want to see my work. So, who knows?
[He lightly bumps her shoulder, and Karen huffs with a laugh, and a shy smile]
Thank you, that is all the critique I need, honestly.
[She nods mutely for a moment, and then clears her throat.] Okay, good.,
[When he kisses her forehead, she wasn't expecting it, so her eyes closed, and she let out a breath that seems like she was holding it in. She goes stock still, and just waits to see what happens?]
As long as it means something to you, I don't know how well it will go over if you bill it as "Matt Murdock Approved".
[He can laugh at himself.]
It speaks for itself.
[Matt slowly breathes out and dips his head to have his lips touch to Karen's. The heady flavor of coffee can't block out what she tastes like. His hand is on her waist again.]
Other people's opinions of your approval mean nothing to me. It is all I need, and they can shove it if they can't understand.
[She smiles awkwardly, but gently when he laughs to himself.]
It does...
[Her eyes open when he leans in to kiss her, almost gasping into his mouth as she starts to kiss back. His hand on her waist has her turning in toward him more fully. Her own hand moves to his waist, then over his back.]
[Then a lot of people will shove it. All he's got is a smile at her words. No use arguing when she's set her mind to it.
His lips urge her's open. That turn Karen does to face him lets Matt pull Karen closer. Their height difference isn't exceedingly dramatic but he takes a grip on her to turn and carefully lift her to the counter top as the kiss gains heat.]
[That makes her fumble with the water, trying to find the lever to turn it off. When she does, her other hand moves closer to him but still remains on the counter top,
At his urging, her mouth opens as surprise over takes her, but it doesn't last for long. She makes a shocked sound when he tugs her closer, but she goes willingly toward him. Then he is lifting her up onto the counter, her hands both quickly move to his shoulders to hold onto his jacket. Jumping up as he lifts her, both of her legs move around his waist, and lock at the ankles. She softly gasps against his tongue again. She doesn't move anymore than that, letting him take the lead.]
[The rushing water sound isn't enough to drown out the sound of her heart beat. Steady and strong right with him. The kiss keeps going, lingering. Matt poises her just so but really keeps the contact of their bodies. Karen's looped ankles help. He makes a soft noise in the back of his throat as his fingers have found the space between her shorts and cami again daring to slip under slowly.]
[That surprises her, she leans into him a bit more. When he makes that noise, her hand slowly move up into her hair, tangling at the back of his head.
When his fingers find her skin again, she lurches forward a bit against him. Moving back a little to suck in a breath, Then she leans back into him to kiss him again, slightly more forcefully, but still hanging back some.]
[There's enough hair on his head to pull and clutch. His scalp really feels responsive under her touch. Strike that, he completely feels responsive from head to toe. Both of his hands are under her shirt, one from the back against her spine and the other reaches up to feel the bottom of her rib cage.
He can feel her old back. She is entirely expecting it. Whatever she's comfortable with. This wasn't just about sandwiches or fulfilling requirements of Eudio. Matt wanted to see her, to be with her.]

[And maybe a small degree of competition with an imaginary threat? Hah. He grins at the warm press of a kiss.]
Thanks, I'm full for now.
[It's in very capable hands. It won't last at all. Chomp, chomp.]
You could get me more coffee. Maybe show me your artistic process? I might not be able to see it but... still is interesting.

Did I? I may of meant not right now for dessert.
[With her hair down and her head on his shoulder there's plenty of eat and pressure to see her face. That is one cheeky smile.]
I like sweets.
no subject
Ah, right. [Thing like this is still under his control. Nodding, she moves to stand.] I'll get up. [She states very quietly.]
[At that, she chuckles, closing her eyes. That smile fading just a smidge as she spoke.]
Lots of people like sweets. You want that coffee now?

It's beautiful, Karen.
[An honest transfer of her feelings to a medium.]
You will be able to feel more, give it time.
