There are times to cling, and this is certainly one of them. He's welcome to cling to her whenever he feels like. She wouldn't consider herself the healing soul in the relationship, but if she's helping him, then all the better. Not letting him martyr himself may turn out to be her life's work, but she's glad to do it.
