[He hopes that little statements like this will cushion the blow later. Lying to her, lying period is not easy for him no matter how accomplished he's become.]

[His voice drops softer as he nearly loses himself in the thought.]
[ She sighs through her nose at that as she rolls onto her back. He's persistent even when he sounds half-awake.
Fine, she's hot in the face as she bites the bullet and starts singing. Clears her throat some before softly, almost a too soft, the pace of the song slow: ]
I'm lying on the moon My dear, I'll be there soon It's a quiet and starry place Times we're swallowed up In space we're here a million miles away.
[ She closes her eyes as she continues, trying to remember if she's ever sang to anyone like this before. Or felt this nervous while doing so. ]

[Laying back, warm and comfortable with the delicate tune coming through the line is a pleasure he had never imagined. Matt's lips curl in a smile and he stays quiet almost a moment too long.]
I promise I didn't fall a sleep.
[He laughs a little and rubs an eye with the heel of his hand.]
You're too hard on yourself, Natasha. Whoever told you you can't sing at all might be deaf.
[That's not a sound he wants to unhear. Maybe he can get a chance to hear it in person. That's what adds to the very vocal notion that if they pretend it never happened he can't have an encore.]
